After-Care Living
Recovery Program
Participants in The Mission at Kern County’s recovery programs often speak of discovering what it means to be truly loved and accepted — of experiencing a sense of family for the first time. Then, after 1 year, they must make a choice to either leave that newfound community, or remain on campus for up to an additional year.
The Transition
The transition back into society — even for a strong, healthy program graduate — can be extremely difficult. The Aftercare program was created to facilitate this move from one community to another by providing our residents continued one-on-one counseling, budgeting, life skills, and each other as they transition to their Next Step in life.
The Next Step
Thanks to community supporters, in spring of 2013, we unveiled a transitional living a 16 bed home for our men. And in the early fall, that same year, The Mission completed a home for up to 8 of our women graduates.
The Mission provides graduates of our 1-year Discipleship program an opportunity to live in a sober environment for up to 9 months while continuing to receive vital life-skills and job readiness training.
