“I started selling drugs because my priorities were wrong,” Leonard admits. “I wanted extra cash. That worked until I tried cocaine. Then I lost control.” He continues: “What bothers me is that I was supposed to be the man of the house — providing for Cynthia and our five daughters. Instead, I lost my job, got my wife addicted, became cruel and hardheaded with my family.”
When Cynthia finally came to the Mission, Leonard was happy. He’d wanted her to get help — but when he saw God actually changing her, “it made me jealous. I wondered why He wouldn’t help me.”
Despite her husband’s growing bitterness, Cynthia remained faithful in prayer. Her requests were answered after many months, when Leonard finally admitted he could never recover on his own and agreed to come to the Mission . . .“This place changed me, too,” he said. “Not only did I become clean, I’ve become patient, humble, and I have peace. After everything I did, I’m amazed God still had a good plan for me.
